Happy Birthday Keith Rehm!

Celebration

Brilliant, this day – a young virtuoso of a day.
Morning shadow cut by sharpest scissors,
deft hands. And every prodigy of green –
whether it's ferns or lichens or needles
or impatient points of buds on spindly bushes –
greener than ever before. And the way the conifers
hold new cones to the light for the blessing,
a festive right, and sing the oceanic chant the wind
transcribes for them!
A day that shines in the cold
like a first-prize brass band swinging along
the street
of a coal-dusty village, wholly at odds
with the claims of reasonable gloom.

I wish to express my gratitude for these gracious words. Of my many birthdays January 24th stands out for its historical significance. Also significant and a personal favorite is October 8th. October 8th is a vibrant and beautiful birthday I celebrate though I have not before now shared this with you.
Merci encore,
Keith Rehm

Oh, if this is really you, Keith Rehm, then I am very happy to know that my wishes have made it to you. They are almost coming back around again and this blog and I have been too long apart. I am planning a wedding, working on the other blog and trying to be a grown-up as much as my nature allows it. In any case, January 24th will be commemorated again soon. As, (whoever you are now and whatever days light for you in your current skies,) it should be.
